ABSTRACT

Tracheobronchial injuries are seen rare, but considering their functions, these injuries may cause destructive effects. Prehospital care and recent advances in advanced cardiac life support made these cases more prevalent. A 30-year-old furnisher man admitted to the emergency service due to cervical injury by an air pistol which is used to stick nails accidentally. He had complained of neck pain, feeling of hurt in inspirium, and sticked nails on supraclaviculary region and sternal arm of the sternocleidomastoid muscle. After initial examination and management, the foreign bodies were removed in appropriate conditions. Lesions were primarily sutured. The patient was discharged without any complication on the third day.

Due to its high mortality and controversies in diagnostic and treatment modalities, tracheobronchial injuries are important problems to emphasize.
