ABSTRACT

Corrosive substance ingestion is still a major medical and social problem for children. Ingestion of these agents induces corrosive injury of the upper gastrointestinal tract and gastric injury after corrosive ingestion is relatively uncommon compared with esophageal injury. We present a five-year old boy who developed gastric perforation following corrosive ingestion. In this case, gastric perforation in the antral region was observed during emergency surgery and it was repaired primarily. The postoperative course was uneventful and the patient was discharged without any complication.
