ABSTRACT

Organophosphate insecticides are commonly used to kill pests in agriculturally important parts of the country. Chlorpyrifos is commonly used in pistachio orchards to combat harmful insects from damaging the trees. A 29-year old housewife tried to commit suicide by drinking a large amount of chlorpyrifos. After initial emergency and critical care last three weeks, unilateral peripheral neuropathy was noted. Injection neuropathy is the most common cause of unilateral peripheral neuropathy. One should remember that a similar clinical picture may occur secondary to organophosphate intoxication.
