Rupture of the diaphragm after blunt trauma is uncommon in children but it is usually associated with life-threatening complications. A delay in diagnosis may result in an increased mortality and morbidity. Following blunt or penetrating traumas, this possibility should be considered in order to diagnose diaphragmatic ruptures.
