ABSTRACT

Cervical spine injuries in children and adolescents are quite rare. Common mechanisms include motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, falls from heights, and gunshot injuries; those caused by break-dancing are rare.. A 17-year old male presented to the emergency unit with a chief complaint of neck pain. He had fallen onto his head while doing a break dance five hours before. Although his initial neurological examination in the emergency department was normal, a 15-20% compression fracture and minimal angulation was found on his lateral C-spine film. Computed tomography (CT), showed an spinal tract with no posterior element fracture. A C6 compression fracture was observed on both CT and magnetic resonance imaging. He recovered completely, necessitating no further treatment.
