ABSTRACT

Substance dependency is a serious problem that should be taken into consideration in an emergency service. Patients with substance dependence are seen by emergency services in many different clinical situations. Studies show that emergency service personnel are faced with substance-dependents most frequently. For this reason, substance dependency is a very important topic for emergency service personnel. A number of approaches have been reported regarding substance dependency treatment in the literature. The aim of this article is to review research about the management of substance dependency in an emergency service.
