ABSTRACT

Psoas abscess is a rare a condition and its diagnosis is usually delayed and difficult. Because classical symptoms and findings are only encountered in 30 % of the cases, the diagnosis and therefore treatment are usually delayed. Ultrasonography and computed tomography of abdomen are used for the diagnosis. However, disappearing of psoas muscle shadow in the conventional radiography is a useful clue in the location of abscess. Combination of antibiotic treatment and drainage are recommended in the management of psoas abscess. We herein, present a case with psoas abscess rarely seen in emergency department, diagnosed with conventional radiography.
