To attract attention on snakebites and revise the treatment, 6 cases of snakebites who where admitted to the Uludag University Hospital in 2002-2003, are discussed. All of these bites occur in the summer and in no one it was possible to identifiy the species of the snake. Two were bitten in their upper, and 4 from lower extremities. All of the cases got steroids, 4 got also antihistamines, 2 antivenin and 1 a tetanoz vaccine in the medical facility which they applied at first, and then referred to our hospital. In our hospital, the tetanus immunizations where completed and antibiotics and antivenin were administrated to 5 cases of 6. Two were mild and 4 were moderate envenomations. A fasciotomy was recommended in 1 case of 2, in which compartment syndrome were developed. Snakebites are medical emergencies which can be complicated by mortality and in practice there are different therapeutical approaches, some of them unnecesary or incorrect. The clinical features and treatment of snakebites are discussed.
