Diagnostic value of rapid cardiac Troponin-T (TnT) in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of patients with chest pain was compared with that of creatine kinase (CK), creatine kinase myocardial band(CK-MB).
60 patients with chest pain were included in the study and 40 patients without chest pain and normal ECG findings were included in the study as a control group.
Results of rapid cardiac TnT obtained within 15 minutes. CK and CK-MB measurements were resulted in 1 hour. Of 60 patients with chest pain, initial cardiac TnT tests were positive in 15 patients. in 3rd hour control tests, cardiac TnT tests was positive in 8 of patients. Thus, cardiac TnT was positive in a total number of 23 patients and negative in 37 patients.
In patients with negative TnT results, CK and CK-MB levels were normal, in 40 patients taken as a control group, both cardiac TnT and CK, CK-MB results were negative in all patients.
As a result, rapid cardiac TnT test, which can be performed at bedside and results within 15 minutes, usefull and reliable diagnostic metod.
