Emergency medicine has been steadily developing both in Turkey and in the world, and the services rendered have become much more complex. In recent years, emergency department (ED) providers have begun to use ultrasound imaging for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. In fact, ultrasonography (USG) at the bedside has become a standard part of the evaluation for many emergency patients.. Although the clinical use of ultrasound has been around for about 40 years, only in the last 15 years has its use at the bedside increased dramatically. USG is portable, noninvasive and easy to use, and can be used in both diagnosis and treatment. Interest in ED ultrasound has increased, and training is a routine part of the education of EM specialist is several countries overseas.
