Patients present to the emergency department with very wide spectrum of signs and symptoms. However, a patient's underlying problem may be very different than the clinical presentation facing the emergency physician. Patients with somatoform or factitious disorders can be particularly challenging. Munchausen's syndrome is a factitious disorder with physical symptoms. In this case report, we describe a young female with Munchausen's Syndrome in a young female who presented with cyanosis in both hands. She was sent to our department by another physician to rule out vasculitis. To the best of our knowledge this kind of presentation was not described in the literature previously. The role of the Emergency Department physicians is important in the early diagnosis of such patients, because they can prevent unnecessary diagnostic tests, medical and surgical treatments, and further complications of these interventions.
